Every year, on the 08th of March, the world joins together to celebrate International women’s Day. Its gives me great pleasure, as the Minister for Fisheries and the Blue Economy, to share this message with women working in the fisheries and marine sector.
On this International Women’s Day, we take a moment to recognize and celebrate the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of women in the fisheries sector in Seychelles. From the shores to the markets, from research to leadership your dedication sustains livelihoods, ensures food security, and drives the blue economy forward, your hard work and commitment do not go unnoticed. As we embrace this year’s theme of gender quality and empowerment let us reaffirms our commitment to creating more opportunities for women in fisheries, ensuring fair access to resources, supporting entrepreneurship, and promoting leadership roles in the sector. Seychelles is proud of the progress we have made, but we recognize that more can be done to ensure that every women in fisheries has the support, recognition, and opportunities she deserves.
Today, we celebrate you, your strength your hard unwavering commitment to sustaining Seychelles ‘fisheries sector. May your contributions continue to inspire future generations and drive us toward a more inclusive and sustainable blue economy. Your dedication, skills, and perseverance are the backbone of many coastal communities and an inspiration to all.
