Five Agriculture Department employees—Kevin Humphrey, Annabelle Baker, Vincent Barreau, Claudia Laurencine, and Sajah Leon—participated in the Erasmus+ Green Training International (GreenTraINT) programme after being invited by the Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture (SIAH) as former students.
The EU-funded initiative, coordinated by the University of Bologna, aims to strengthen education and international collaboration in sustainable agriculture, livestock farming, and biodiversity conservation. Through online working groups and the GreenTraINT Summer School held from 13–18 July 2026, participants attended lectures, developed research proposals, and took part in practical field activities, including a conservation visit to Curieuse Island.
The programme provided valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge with students and experts from Seychelles and Europe, while enhancing participants’ understanding of food security, sustainable agriculture, and environmental conservation.
The Agriculture Department congratulates the five participants on their successful involvement and thanks SIAH, the University of Bologna, and all GreenTraINT partners for providing this valuable professional development opportunity that contributes to building a more resilient and sustainable agricultural sector in Seychelles.
