Handing Over Ceremony of the FiTI Report 2025 to Minister Wallace Cosgrow

Victoria, Seychelles – 10th February 2026 — The Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture, and the Blue Economy, in partnership with the Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FiTI) National Multi-Stakeholder Group (NMSG), hosted a brief but significant ceremony today to officially hand over the FiTI Report 2025 to the Principal Minister Mr. Wallace Cosgrow.

The FiTI Report 2025 provides an in-depth assessment of Seychelles’ progress under the Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FiTI), ensuring that key information on the management and governance of the fisheries sector is publicly available and accessible to all stakeholders. The receipt of the report by Principal Minister Cosgrow underscores the Government of Seychelles’ continued commitment to transparency, good governance, and the advancement of national Blue Economy objectives.

In attendance at the ceremony were members of the FiTI National Multi-Stakeholder Group, including Mr. Alain De Comarmond, Secretary of State and newly appointed Chair of FiTI Seychelles; Ms. Nathanielle Morel, of the Seychelles FiTI National Secretariat; as well as representatives from FiTI International, Mr. Sven Bierman and Mr. Yannick Memee. The event was also graced by Mr. Aubrey Lesperance, Deputy CEO of the Seychelles Fishing Authority, who paid a special tribute to Mr. Philippe Michaud in recognition of his leadership and long-standing service to the FiTI process as well as his tenure in the Fisheries sector.

In his remarks, Principal Minister Cosgrow expressed his appreciation to the FiTI National Multi-Stakeholder Group for their continued dedication and acknowledged the valuable support of FiTI International. He reaffirmed Seychelles’ strong commitment to the Fisheries Transparency Initiative, noting that FiTI has strengthened governance standards while reinforcing the importance of openness in sustaining effective international and domestic partnerships. He further emphasized his full support for FiTI and its continued implementation in the years ahead.

Principal Minister Cosgrow also conveyed his sincere appreciation to the Seychelles Fisheries Authority, whose financial support through the EU Sectoral Support Programme has been instrumental in advancing the FiTI process.

As part of this ongoing commitment, Principal Minister Cosgrow encouraged the continued engagement of all stakeholders to ensure that Seychelles remains a leader in transparent and sustainable ocean governance. He concluded by underscoring that the work undertaken today lays the foundation for a resilient, transparent, and sustainable fisheries sector that will benefit future generations and serve as a model internationally.
