Official Visit of H.E. Mr. Sidi Tiémoko Touré Minister of Animal and Fisheries Resources of The Republic of Côte D’Ivoire, to The Republic of Seychelles

As part of efforts to advance the implementation of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire’s national Fisheries and their Blue Economy agenda, His Excellency Mr. Sidi Tiémoko Touré, Minister of Animal and Fisheries Resources, undertook an official working visit to the Republic of Seychelles from 11 to 12 June 2026.

During the visit, H.E. Mr. Sidi Tiémoko Touré held discussions with his counterpart, H.E. Mr. Wallace Cosgrow, Principal Minister and Minister for Fisheries, Agriculture and the Blue Economy of the Republic of Seychelles, as well as senior officials from both departments. The visit provided an opportunity for a constructive exchange of experiences and best practices in the areas of Blue Economy governance, sustainable fisheries management, aquaculture development, and ocean-based economic growth.

The Ivorian delegation was also introduced to several initiatives undertaken by Seychelles in support of sustainable ocean governance, fisheries transparency, marine conservation, and the development of the Blue Economy. Particular attention was given to Seychelles’ experience in promoting stakeholder participation, strengthening fisheries governance, and advancing sustainable management of marine resources.

Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting the Blue Economy as a catalyst for sustainable development, economic diversification, food security, and employment creation. The discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening regional cooperation and knowledge exchange among African coastal and island states in addressing common challenges and opportunities in the fisheries and ocean sectors.

The two sides identified several priority areas for future cooperation, including:

  • Blue Economy governance and policy development;
  • Sustainable fisheries management;
  • Aquaculture development;
  • Fisheries transparency and information sharing;
  • Combating Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing;
  • Scientific research and innovation;
  • Capacity building and technical cooperation.

At the conclusion of the visit, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining dialogue and exploring opportunities to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, including through the possible development of a Memorandum of Understanding in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture, and the Blue Economy.

The Government of the Republic of Seychelles and the Government of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire reaffirm their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and fostering collaboration for the sustainable management and development of ocean resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
