Mr. Alain de Comarmond holds a degree in Environmental Management and has been a professional for over 24 years in the environmental and sustainable development field including 20 years in government holding several responsibilities from project officer, Director, Director General since joining the Ministry responsible for Environment in 2001 up until 2021. In addition to his portfolio responsibilities he has Chaired and been member/trustee on numerous Boards in various domains and sectors.
From 2015, he headed the Environment Department in the post of Principal Secretary for the Environment Department for a period of 6 years up to 2021.
Since 2021 until December 2025 he was in the private consultancy business as well working with the Seychelles Conservation and Climate Adaptation Trust (SeyCCAT) as the Fundraising and Partnership Manager from 2023-2025.
In December 2025 he was appointed Secretary of State for Fisheries and the Blue Economy.
His area of expertise and experience lies in general environmental science and management issues amassed through his various responsibilities in for example coastal management and adaptation, development control and environmental Impact Assessment, disaster management, pollution control & waste management, biodiversity conservation and climate change-related issues as well sustainable development and the development of the Blue Economy as well as other production sectors.
