The Department of Blue Economy hosts Prize Giving Ceremony for Winners of ‘My Blue Economy Perspective’ Poster Competition

At the beginning of the year, the Blue Economy Department launched its education and awareness campaign on the Blue Economy in all schools in Seychelles. The aim of the campaign was to educate and sensitize the youth about the concept of Blue Economy and for them to comprehend what opportunities the sector has to offer them. Following the outreach campaign, the Department of Blue Economy organized a Poster Competition for all state and private schools in order to bring out the creative expression of students and to gauge their knowledge and awareness of the Blue Economy concept.
The Department launched the Poster Competition in schools at the beginning of the third term with the theme: “My Blue Economy Perspective.”

The chosen theme allowed students to put on paper their knowledge of the Blue Economy and their vision of what opportunities the sector may bring about for them in the future.
The winners of the Poster Competition were selected by a panel and included 3 winners from 3 categories (primary, secondary and post-secondary schools) and 1 special mention from all 3 categories. The prize giving ceremony for the winners was held at the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy on Monday 7th
November 2022 in the presence of the Minister for Fisheries and Blue Economy, Mr. Jean-Francois Ferrari.
The winners from the three categories received an array of interesting prizes which included cash prizes, laptops, electronics, trophies, books and merchandise.
