The President of the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan, the Champion for the Seychelles Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) appointed the Designated Minister, Mr. Jean-Francois Ferrari to lead the EITI portfolio in Seychelles on the 6th January 2023.
The EITI is a global standard that promotes the open and accountable management of natural resources. By requiring governments and companies to disclose information about the payments they make and receive for the extraction of natural resources, the EITI helps to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance in the extractive industries sector.
The national implementing body in Seychelles for the EITI is pleased to announce the Members of the newly formed EITI Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG).
The MSG is composed of representatives from the government, the private sector, industry and civil society organisations and serves as the key decision-making body for the implementation of the EITI in Seychelles. The group is responsible for ensuring that the EITI process is transparent, inclusive and effective in promoting transparency and accountability in the extractive industries sector.
The following individuals have been selected as Members of the EITI MSG on the 17th January 2023 and will serve until January 2025;
The National EITI Coordinator and the Head of Secretariat for Seychelles, Ms. Fatime Kanté stated that “We are thrilled to have such a diverse and experienced group of individuals on board for the EITI MSG…Their expertise and insight will be invaluable as we work to improve transparency and accountability in the extractive industries sector.”
